Our Housing

Rented accommodation

Council Accommodation

  • 15 one-bedroom flats to rent are allocated to Islington teachers.
  • These are offered to Newly Qualified Teachers and teachers new to Islington on a permanent contract on a first come first served basis.
  • The flats are a mixture of street and estate developments and due to the very limited number there is no choice in allocation.
  • Head teachers will receive details and application forms and the application form needs to be completed and returned to the Personnel Department at Laycock Street not the Housing Department.
  • The flats are allocated strictly on a first come first served basis and you will need to alert your head teacher that you are interested and want the details sent to you immediately.

Housing Association Rented Accommodation

  • A number of Housing Associations operate in the Islington area and do offer a limited number of their properties to key workers including teachers.
  • These units usually consist of 1 single bedroom with own bathroom and shared facilities (kitchen /living room) with up to 6 others. This type of accommodation is usually referred to as “cluster flats”.
  • These units cost from £80-£100 a week inclusive of all bills (except telephone).
  • They are available at different times of the year as people vacate them.
