Your Support

Forget the image of London as a lonely city – in Islington, you’ll always have someone to turn to. From the start, you’ll receive comprehensive support and an induction programme that 96% of participants rate as excellent.

You’ll have access to one of four packages, depending on your phase. Each package has three elements: Introductory and Generic Sessions – includes creating the climate for learning behaviour management, assessment for learning and Ethnic Minority Achievement issues.

Subject/area specific sessions

Primary KS1 & 2 NQTs will be offered additional subject specific support for the core and foundation subjects.
Several of the sessions will be spent visiting schools to observe and discuss good practice in action.

Secondary NQT programme

These sessions focus on the development of strong Assessment for Learning skills for Newly Qualified Teachers, with opportunities for teachers to self assess, try out new techniques in a supportive framework and find out about teaching techniques with proven impact on students’ learning.

Formal and informal consultation together with feedback from evaluations allows the provision to be tailored to each audience.

Peer support – highlights the contribution NQTs make to the professional development of their peers. After you’ve finished the induction period, we’ll continue your development as needs arise – giving you the chance to take responsibility and develop more quickly.
